Sustainability Certification

World Trade Center Schiphol Airport has been awarded a BREEAM In-Use certificate. BREEAM is the method to assess, determine and certify the sustainability performance of buildings. The energy labels of our towers are A+ and A++, respectively.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) is the global method for assessing the sustainability of projects in the built environment. Examples of green initiatives included in our BREEAM certificate are: motion sensors for light and climate, an extensive recycling program, rental of shared cars via AMBER, underground thermal storage system, exclusively Ecolabel & Cradle2Cradle certified cleaning products, sustainable Management & Maintenance contract with the main contractor including measurable KPIs, data driven maintenance for decrease in breakdowns, climate complaints, energy consumption and corrective maintenance costs.

BREEAM-NL In-Use is the integrated certification method for making existing utility buildings and homes more sustainable, providing insight into the current sustainable state of a property and the potential for improvement.
